Ford Jubilee vs 8n: Which one is the best choice in 2024?

The fantastic corporation Ford produces a wide range of automobiles. Even tractors for several farmers were made by it.

They produced several tractors, the Ford 8n being one of the most well-known. It includes a number of different characteristics that people really appreciate.

The serial number system used starting with this tractor was designated by the NAA abbreviation, which stood for the first three digits. It was developed to serve as a replacement for Ford’s N-Series tractors.

The Golden Jubilee, which was larger than the 8N, had an overhead-valve “Red Tiger” four-cylinder engine, live hydraulics, 50th-year Golden Jubilee badging, and a streamlined appearance.

It was the first tractor Ford produced following its legal defeat in 1952 against Irish inventor Harry Ferguson over the patents he owned on the Ferguson System three-point hitch.

This copy appears to have just been completed after being repaired by well-known collector Ron Thorne in 2005. 

It is finished in Ferrari Red and Gray, has received several national prizes, and has only recently undergone restoration before being displayed at tractor events.

It has since been kept in a meticulous collection and is now ready to be used, shown, and appreciated.

Built by Ford between 1947 and 1952, the 8N is an agricultural and farm tractor. Ford produced 524,000 8NS with an original price of $1,404 in 1952. Built at Ford’s Highland Park, Michigan factory, the 8N was superseded by the Ford NAA.

The technical specifications of the 8N will show you the original features and characteristics of the tractor. In terms of engine and power, Most Ford 8NS use a gasoline engine, although the 8NAN version uses distillate fuel.

The 8N features a four-cylinder, eight-valve engine with 120 cubic inches (ci) of displacement. The engine features a 3.188-inch bore and 3.75-inch stroke with a 6-to-1 or 6.7-to-1 compression ratio, depending on the year.

The 8N features a belt horsepower of 23.22, with a maximum of 27.32. The tractor has 92 ft-lbs of torque, reached at 1500 rpm.

Ford Jubilee Overview

In 1953, Ford Motor Company unveiled the Golden Jubilee, a brand-new vehicle that served as the predecessor of the Ford NAA utility tractor.

The Ford Golden Jubilee NAA designation was an acronym for the first three digits of the serial number format that was utilized, starting with this tractor.

The Ford Golden Jubilee NAA was developed to replace the Ford N-Series tractors. A “Red Tiger” overhead-valve four-cylinder engine, live hydraulics, streamlined style, and Golden Jubilee badging commemorating the tractor’s 50th anniversary were all included.

Ford 8n Overview

The Ford 8N has an operating weight of 2,717 pounds and a ballast weight of 4043 pounds. With a 70-inch wheelbase, the 8N has a two-wheel drive turning radius of 8 feet. 

The 8N has 13 inches of ground clearance, covering 70 centimeters tall, 64.75 inches wide, and 115 centimeters long. The tractor’s exterior features a two-tone paint job with a red body, a sheet metal gray hood, and fenders.

The 8N features one of two transmissions. The first is a constant-gear transmission with four forward gears and one reverse gear.

The other, a Sherman combination transmission, features 12 forward and three reverse gears. The Ford 8N uses manual drum brakes and has a 10-gallon fuel tank. 

The tractor features a one-rear three-point hitch type with a maximum lift of 800 pounds. The internally mounted hydraulic system has four pistons and a maximum pressure of 1500 psi.

Ford Jubilee vs 8n: The comparison

Comparing two Ford lawnmowers usually makes it difficult to choose one over the other.

The addition of the Ford 8n and Jubilee has drastically improved the tractor markets. Both share many of the same characteristics, with a few minor exceptions.

The Ford Jubilee has more horsepower than the 8n, but it doesn’t accurately reflect the situation.

Many 8n users choose not to update to Jubilee since they were happy with the engine. However, the Jubilee users also praised this tractor for being excellent. Therefore, it is challenging to state which is truly superior.


For both the Ford 8n and Jubilee, engines are a strong suit. The Ford Jubilee is powered by a four-cylinder, eight-valve, 134 cc gasoline engine from Ford. 

Because it features a Ford engine, you won’t have to worry about running out of gas in the middle of a mow.

The 119.7 cc, 4-cylinder, 8-valve Ford gasoline engine in the Ford 8n offers smooth and powerful driving.

As a result, the Ford Jubilee, which replaces the Ford 8n, is somewhat superior, even if the improvements aren’t noticeable while working.

Ford 8n is also available with a hydraulic gearbox option. I would say 8n has a slight advantage in terms of possibilities.

Fuel Capacity

If the tank has a greater capacity, you can cut for longer periods without being concerned about running out of fuel. As a result, a tractor with more fuel capacity is preferable to one with less.

Now, the Jubilee has an 11-gallon gasoline capacity compared to the Ford 8n’s 10-gallon capacity. Despite the minimal difference, Jubilee has a larger fuel capacity.


It’s critical to take the warranty into account before making a purchase. The user’s experience will be worry-free if the warranty covers a gadget and its components.

As a result, Ford Motor Company offered a three-year warranty on both the Ford Jubilee and Ford 8n lawnmowers. Because it is difficult to get a new Ford 8n or Ford Jubilee mower, warranties may be hard to come by.
